What is an Assessment?
An assessment is a process helpers use to gather information about a client’s thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and overall well-being. It may include interviews, questionnaires, observations, or standardized tools to better understand a person’s needs, strengths, and challenges.
Why are Assessments Important?
Assessments are important because they:
Provide clarity – help identify underlying issues and guide treatment planning.
Personalize care – ensure interventions match the client’s unique situation.
Track progress – show growth and highlight areas needing more support.
Empower clients – increase self-awareness and encourage active participation in their healing journey.
Do You Provide Therapy Overseas?
Yes. In accordance with the NCBLPC Distance Counseling Policy (Provision of Services via Electronic, Distance Professional Counseling Services, and Supervision), therapy services are available only to residents of North Carolina. All sessions are provided through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, giving you the flexibility to receive care from home, whether you’re local or traveling.
For those living overseas, coaching services are available. While coaching is not therapy, it offers practical guidance, support, and strategies for both personal and professional growth, accessible from anywhere in the world.
Do You Accept Insurance? No. I am an out of network service provider. I will be happy to provide you with a bill that you can send to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. In addition, you may be able to apply for your employer’s flexible spending plan or claim therapy costs as a tax deduction. Reduced fee services are available on a limited case-by-case basis. Please email garrawaya@aol.com for details.
